Anglicare is the urban mission and community care arm of the Sydney Anglican Church. As one of Australia’s largest Christian care organisations, Anglicare reaches out to thousands of people every year.
In response to the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, Anglicare seeks to provide care for all people by addressing emotional, social and physical needs and by bringing the gospel message of Jesus that alone meets spiritual needs. Through God’s grace and the practical support of people throughout the diocese, Anglicare is able to make Christ’s love real to people in need: in Pastoral Care and in Chaplaincy, in hospitals and gaols across our city and our state, in Aged Care Facilities, for those who are disabled, homeless and impoverished. Visit the Anglicare website for a full list of community services available.
At Christ Church Northern Beaches we are committed to the inherent value of all people made in God’s image. Consequently we are partnered with Anglicare alongside other Christian organisations in order to bring a genuine Christ-centred approach to changing lives and growing communities. Adding their commitment, knowledge and expertise to that of like-minded organisations, schools and other community groups can help build meaningful networks and relationships with our community.
Mental Health
In 2007 the Australian Government’s National Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing found that every year 1 in 5 Australians will experience Mental Health issue of some kind. However, only about one third of these people will actually seek help – so it is important to develop a culture of support that helps people identify their needs and seek help without fear of stigma.
Anglicare provide a Mental Health Fact Sheet for Churches, a General Mental Health Fact Sheet and Mental Health Month prayers.
